Who we are
This policy explains what Tamarind & Co. ("we", "us") collects when you use www.tamarindnj.com, our app, online ordering and reservations, our WhatsApp assistant Maya, and the emails and texts we send — and what we do with it. It was last updated on November 1, 2026.
Our website, ordering, reservations, email list and assistant run on WhatsTable, a restaurant platform that handles your information for us and only on our instructions.
What we collect
Details you give us: your name, email, phone number, ZIP code or town and — only if you choose — your birthday (the day and month, never the year).
Orders and bookings: what you order, notes, allergies and dietary requests, pickup and booking times, party size and occasions; for a delivery, the address.
Payments: card details you type go straight into Clover's secure payment form — Clover is our card processor. We never see or store your full card number; we receive the card type, the last four digits and whether the payment went through.
Your account: if you sign in, the email you use and the devices you're signed in on. Passkeys stay on your device; we keep only the public half.
Rewards, offers and invitations: points, coupons and vouchers. If you invite a friend, the email or phone you give us for them is used only to send that invitation.
Catering, events and group enquiries, and job applications (your name, phone, and the email and experience you choose to share).
Messages and calls: what you send Maya, our WhatsApp assistant, and calls and texts with us. Maya is an automated assistant — conversations are processed by AI services to answer you and kept to look after your order or booking.
Feedback and reviews you send us, and entries in our monthly draw.
Your location, only if you allow it: "Show my drive time" uses your device's location to work out the drive, and the town you're in may be kept with your visit.
How you use the site: the pages you view, dishes added to your cart, your device and browser, the town you're browsing from and the link that brought you — through WhatsTable's own visit records and Google Analytics.
On your own device: your name, phone, email, cart and choices are kept in your browser's storage so forms fill themselves in next time. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google Ads to measure our ads and show them to people who have visited us. Google sets its own cookies for these. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com and block Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, WhatsTable's visit records do not link your visits to your name, email or phone. Our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that keeps out spam bots.
How we use it
To prepare and hand over your order, take payment, hold your table and keep you posted about them.
To send receipts, confirmations and pickup or booking updates.
To run Rewards, offers, vouchers, referrals and the monthly draw.
To send our promotions — only if you joined our email list or ticked the box for texts.
To answer catering, event and general enquiries, and to consider job applications.
To improve our menu, service and website, and to prevent fraud and misuse.
To meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
Emails and texts
Promotional emails go only to people on our email list, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Promotional texts go only to people who ticked the box to receive them: message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. Messages about an order or booking you made are part of the service.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
WhatsTable, the platform that runs our ordering, reservations, email list and assistant.
Clover (Fiserv), our point-of-sale system and card processor.
DoorDash, when a delivery is arranged for your order.
ChefWaala, our catering partner, which helps us reply to catering enquiries made on our website.
The services that deliver our emails, texts and WhatsApp messages (including Meta's WhatsApp), host our website (Amazon Web Services), measure it (Google), keep spam out of our forms, and provide the AI behind our assistant.
Anyone the law requires us to, or where it's needed to protect our guests, our staff or our business — and a new owner, if the restaurant is ever sold.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it: order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting rules require; your place on our email list until you unsubscribe; your account until you ask us to close it; and a job application while we fill the role and for a reasonable time after, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Keeping it safe
Every page is served over an encrypted connection, card details never touch our website, and only the people who need your details to serve you can see them. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect what you share with us.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask for a copy, and opt out of promotions, of targeted advertising and of any sale of your information (we don't sell it). Residents of New Jersey and some other states have these rights in law; we offer them to everyone.
Email info@tamarindnj.com or call (732) 466-1345. We may need to confirm it's you, and we'll reply within 45 days. If we turn a request down, you can ask us to look again by replying to our answer, and you can contact your state's Attorney General.
Children
Our website isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us and we'll delete them.
Changes and contact
When we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top.
