Momos in Central Jersey — steamed, or tossed in chilli
Momos came down from the Himalaya — Tibet, Nepal, Darjeeling and Sikkim — and became street food everywhere in India: a thin wrapper, a juicy filling, a chutney with real heat. We make them two ways.
Steamed, the way they started
Our steamed chicken momos are juicy chicken dumplings in a thin wrapper, served with a fiery tomato-chilli chutney — the chutney is half the point.
Eat them soon after they leave the steamer, while the wrapper is soft; that is the best argument for dining in, or for collecting a pickup order on time.
Or tossed in chilli, Indo-Chinese style
Chilli momos take the steamed dumpling to the wok: tossed in a spicy chilli-garlic sauce with bell peppers and spring onion until every fold catches the glaze. It is the Indo-Chinese side of our kitchen — the same wok that turns out chilli chicken and Hakka noodles. See our Indo-Chinese guide for the rest of that menu.
Chicken momos start at $17.99 and chilli momos at $19.99 — the current prices are always on the menu page.
