Diwali dinner and catering in Central New Jersey

Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8 this year, and the fortnight around it is the busiest of the autumn for every Indian kitchen in New Jersey. Here is how to get the dinner you want without leaving it to the last weekend.

A Diwali dinner in our dining room

For a gathering of family and friends, the Festive Indian Feast is one set price a person for 20 to 75 guests (today's price is on our Group packages page). The table chooses two welcome drinks from five — mango lassi, aam panna, masala soda among them — three appetizers from ten, three main courses from twenty-two, and two desserts: gulab jamun, kesar pistachio rasmalai, gajar halwa or moong dal halwa. Paan comes with it. Book it on group dining and we call to confirm every detail.

For a smaller table, reserve online. Dinner starts at 4:30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The room is BYOB, so the drinks are yours, and parking is free at the door.

Catering a Diwali party at home

Trays come in three sizes — Small for 10 to 12 guests, Medium for 20 to 25 and Large for 30 to 35. Appetizer trays start at $85 and entrées at $90, with naan and desserts priced per piece. Build the order online: pick the dishes, tap a size, and the total and the cost per guest add up as you go. We call to confirm; nothing is paid online.

If the food is for the Lakshmi puja itself, tell us. Pure vegetarian is standard, and we cook without onion and garlic on request — see pooja catering for how we handle it.

About the sweets

We make desserts, not mithai boxes. Gulab jamun, rasmalai and both halwas are on the menu and in the trays, and they travel well. For boxes of barfi and kaju katli to hand out, a sweet shop is the right call. If you are bringing a cake or a box of mithai to the table, say so when you book.

Book early

Give us at least 48 hours for any catering order, and more in Diwali week, when weekend dates fill first. Call (732) 466-1345 with the date and headcount, or send them on WhatsApp.
